Field day recap courtesy of LARC member Russ N4RTD
Reminder all, this month’s meeting will start at 6pm and will have a $10 per person fee. There will be Mission BBQ and raffles and a recap of Field Day.
Also, this month LARC will still be taking donations to offset our portion of the Fusion repeater that we are buying with the Lake Wales club. It will be installed at the 300 ft Polk Emergency Management tower in Bartow. Also contributing to project is the Polk County Public Schools Radio Society, who will be adding the battery back up and helping to administer it.
A look back at the field day that just passed. Fun was had by all. There were new modes learned and new friends made.
Club member Russ Delaney, N4RTD has a program on Youtube called “Spurious Emissions”, and if you haven’t seen it you’re missing out.
This past Saturday he was with our friends from the Lake Wales Radio Amateurs at their monthly QRP event at Lake Shipp Park in Winter Haven. Enjoy!
The original Radio Amateur’s Code was written by Paul M. Segal, W9EEA over 90 years ago (in 1928), and it’s as relevant today as the day it was written…
The radio amateur is:
CONSIDERATE…never knowingly operates in such a way as to lessen the pleasure of others.
LOYAL…offers loyalty, encouragement, and support to other amateurs, local clubs, and the American Radio Relay League, through which amateur radio in the United States is represented nationally and internationally.
PROGRESSIVE…with knowledge abreast of science, a well-built and efficient station and operation above reproach.
FRIENDLY…slow and patient operating when requested; offers friendly advice and counsel to the beginner; kind assistance, cooperation, and consideration for the interests of others. These are the hallmarks of the amateur spirit.
BALANCED…radio is an avocation, never interfering with duties owed to family, job, school, or community.
PATRIOTIC…station and skills are always ready for service to country and community.
If we’re operating on the air or working to mentor a new operator, are we living up to this ideal and passing it along to others?
We are in the the thick of hamfest season, and there is lots going on over the next few weeks…

It’s a good time to be a ham in Florida!
We started the new year out with a bang and had “Show & Tell”, showing different radios and what they will do and some of the myriad of options available. Enjoy!
2022 was quite the eventful year for us all, and the Lakeland Amateur Radio Club was no different. From the Sun ‘N Fun Aerospace Expo special event station to Field Day to Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, it seems like there was always something going on. We even had a member with an article published in QST!
As 2022 comes to a close, on behalf of the LARC Officers and Board of Directors, your friendly neighborhood blogmaster would like to say 73 to all, and see you next year!
